33% Growth

No, not our waist-lines (in spite of the meat/bread diet that is so common here)… the percentage refers to our household expansion over the past two weeks. Kaye Sparks a vivacious, North Carolina bred, 18-year old, gringo arrived on August 21st as a 10 month member of the Pioneers’ Mexico team.

Currently, Kaye’s official title is “Chief Caleb Wrangler” which is a full-time position the five week days that Mom and Dad are in class. Those of you acquainted with our son know that there aren’t many individuals who are equipped to apply for such a position… after the first couple of weeks Kaye is performing admirably. Kaye has brought with her four years of high school Spanish knowledge which all but assures us that Caleb, under her tutelage will be confident with the language long before his parents.

Some of you may remember back in June that Amy and I were praying for a care-taker for Caleb to become available by the start of our second session of language classes. The Lord decided to answer this request in a way that only He could facilitate. Our family was in need of a care-taker (who preferably could speak both English and Spanish), who was available five days a week, who didn’t charge more than we could afford, who was honest, trustworthy and who shared the beliefs and values that Amy and I want to impart to our son. Kaye meets all of these qualifications marvelously. We have been sincerely humbled by the way that God has wholly met this need of our family.
