How many of you back in the States thought that Mexico’s Independence Day was commemorated on 5-May? Yeah… me too. Well it turns out that Cinco de Mayo really doesn’t amount to much once you’re south of Texas. In fact, there’s so little emphasis on this date down here that I believe the popularity of May 5th is actually a ruse solely to grow the Mexican GDP… (revenues generated from the increased exportation of Corona’s and margarita ingredients to the rest of the world). The REAL Mexican Independence Day is celebrated on 15-September at 11:00 PM.
